Track Meet At Waccamaw High School

Congratulations to the boys and girls track team for their participation in their first track meet of the year, at Waccamaw High School. The day was a huge success for our athletes. Track meets are based on time and distance in the event.  Wednesday we had 3 individauls qualify for the SCISA State Track meet to be held at Porter Gaud in Charleston on May 5, 2018. In the first event of the day in 400 meter relay,  Elizabeth Askins, Malery Ward, Grace Weaver, and Madison Burgess placed second to Andrews High School  with a 56.22 time.  This is the first time in our school history that CA has participated in this event and with that time this has qualified them for the State Meet. Senior Malery Ward also participated in the Discus throw yesterday which was a first for the school and for her in this event.  She had a throw of 72’9 which qualified her for the State Meet. Derrick Smith, a junior and 2nd year sprinter also qualified for the State Meet in the 400 meter for the 2nd year in a row with a time or 56.93.
