Joye Law Firm Scholarship

Selection of the recipients is based on the creative entry, school activities, positions of leadership, special honors and awards, community involvement, academic performance, and professional pursuits.

To apply for the Joye Law Firm Scholarship, applicants must submit the following materials along with their 2019 application form:

  • A current high school transcript
  • An infographic based on one of the following prompts:
    • What are ways young adults can address the topic of drinking and driving with their peers? In what ways can you influence your peers to make more responsible decisions in regards to drunk driving?
    • In what ways can friends add distractions in a vehicle, and is the subject discussed enough? What can be done to help avoid these situations? In what ways can you advocate safer driving among your peers?
    • Where do you think employers lack adequate safety measures? Outline some of the most dangerous occupations and where the risks for injury are commonly found. Show statistics and evidence to support your visuals.
    • Outline some of the most common cases of personal injury. How do they occur? Where do they occur? What are the most common causes of them and how can they be prevented?
    • In what way are elders abused in nursing homes? Discuss physical, mental, and emotional abuse. What are some of the signs of abuse that an individual might show and what should family members be on the lookout for?

Joseph C. Rodgers Scholarship Foundation

To be eligible for the Joseph C. Rodgers Scholarship applicants  must have each of the following:

  • Applicant must be a high school senior or a freshmen,sophomore, or junior currently enrolled in a college or technical school.
  • Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 when the application is submitted.
  • Applicant must have actively participated as a volunteer for a community service organization or must be pursuing a degree in a criminal justice related field.
  • Applicant must be a resident of Florence County, South Carolina.

South Carolina LIFE Scholarship

The South Carolina LIFE Scholarship is currently $5000 per year for a maximum of four years. LIFE Scholars in their second year and after may also be eligible for a $2500 Enhancement.

Freshmen Eligibility

To receive a LIFE Scholarship, an entering freshman must meet two of the three eligibility requirements:
Score 1100 on the SAT or 24 on the ACT
Graduate High School with a 3.0 GPA on the S.C. Uniform Grading Scale
Rank in the top 30% of graduating class

 

South Carolina HOPE Scholarship

The South Carolina HOPE Scholarship is currently $2800 per year for a maximum of one year.
The South Carolina HOPE Scholarship is for incoming freshmen with a 3.00 GPA on the S.C. Uniform Grading Scale who did not receive the LIFE Scholarship or Palmetto Fellows

South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation Scholarship

To be eligible, applicants:

  • Must be a senior in a South Carolina high school or an undergraduate in a South Carolina college or university.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 score through the spring 2019 semester.
  • Must be a South Carolina resident.
  • Must attend an accredited pubic or private, four-year college or university located in South Carolina in fall of 2020.
  • Must have a competitive or recreational interest in golf.

 

DEADLINE: Applicants must submit the requested information via the website and by mail. All additional items must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. est January 8, 2020.

Kitty M. Fairey Educational Fund Scholarship

To be eligible applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in or planning to attend full-time an accredited college or university in the state of South Carolina.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Demonstrate financial need.

Scholarship Specifics

  • This scholarship is for one year only; however, current recipients may reapply and be considered for additional funding along with other new applicants. Scholarship recipients must be enrolled full-time.
  • See your guidance counselor for additional information.

DEADLINE: To be considered for a scholarship, applications and a supporting documentation must be received by 5:00 p.. Eastern Time on December 2, 2019.

 

Ponton Law Scholarship

Requirements:

      • This scholarship is judged & awarded primarily on merit & need.
      • Applicant must plan to attend college by fall semester 2020.
      • Must have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0.
      • A transcript must be attached for application for consideration.
      • Applicant must submit an un-opened copy of official transcripts if selected as a finalist.
      • This scholarship is a one-time award worth $1,000 to be awarded the fall semester of 2020.
      • Although not required, applicants are encouraged to submit recommendation letters and/or resumes to substantiate their application.
      • Applicant will be required to demonstrate both their merit and their need for this scholarship

Deadine to apply for scholarship is July 31, 2020, and late applications will not be considered. Incomplete applications will not be considered as well.
