Veteran’s Day Program

On Monday, November, 11th The Carolina Academy hosted their annual Veteran’s Day Program. The program was led by Kenneth Bowen, a former Navy Veteran. The guest speaker this year was Mr. Floyd Keels, a former Veteran of the Vietnam War. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the United States Army. Mr. Keels was ordered to serve while studying mechanical drafting at the University of Wisconsin. After returning from Vietnam, he re-enrolled in college. He later served twenty years in the U.S. army Army Reserves, retiring as an infantry First Sergeant. His professional experience includes a career in the electric power industry. He is a recipient of various combat awards and decorations, including the Bronze Star. Mr. Ira Barrineau led 3K- 6th grade in music along with Jalen Graham and Emma Louise Hunt.

The students in the 6th-8th grade write a paper for the Patriot’s Pen Award. This years topic was “What Makes America Great”. The school winners were Hannah Grace Matthews, Walker McCutcheon, Caden Collins, Thomas McDaniel, Allie Keith Coker(3rd place), Christian McCutcheon, Jackson Altman, Collin Epps (1st place), and Kaydin Knight(2nd place). Congratulations to all of the students on excellent papers!
